Overview
Palettra explores creative sketchbook through a mobile experience built around an edge-to-edge sketch canvas with floating tool puck. A creative sketchbook for guided visual variations, extracted palettes and searchable personal studies. The proposed journey connects sketch canvas, variation lab, color finder, project folio. Four original phone showcases establish the visual direction, while the case study defines the supporting feature set and a proposed Swift architecture.

Original mobile interface concepts with fictional content. AI responses illustrate proposed interactions; they are not live model results.
Challenge
Artists need generative exploration that preserves their sketch and clearly separates suggested variations from the original. On a phone, the person also needs to capture information quickly, understand where an answer came from and return to the original material without navigating through a dense desktop interface.
- Keep sketch canvas and variation lab connected within a short mobile flow.
- Make sketch-guided variation correctable when the model misreads the input.
- Explain reference retrieval through visible references or user-selected preferences.
- Keep changes, sharing and data retention under explicit user control.
Solution
The design begins with an edge-to-edge sketch canvas with floating tool puck, using large touch targets, short task sequences and contextual sheets. Generate exploratory treatments from the artist's chosen drawing. Suggest colors from a reference photo for manual adjustment. The companion views keep drafts, original material and accepted decisions distinct. A ink, ultramarine and warm white visual system gives this app its own character within the collection.
- Generate exploratory treatments from the artist's chosen drawing.
- Suggest colors from a reference photo for manual adjustment.
- Find related studies within the user's own sketch archive.
- Turn a short creative direction into editable variation controls.
